oh, hi! welcome to my 3ds! feel free to look around!

History of 3DS

The successor of the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo 3DS is a dual-screened handheld produced by Nintendo. It was originally released in Japan on February 26, 2011 (one month later worldwide) and was produced until 2020.

It has backwards compatibility with the Nintendo DS, but not the Gameboy Advance like the NDS had. The biggest feature of the N3DS was its 3D feature, where is could produce 3D images without the help of 3D glasses. Even though the NDS was one of Nintendo's greatest successes, the launch was so poor that they ended up reducing the price from US$249.99 to US$169.99 within six months of release. This was considered a success, and now the N3DS is one of the most loved consoles from Nintendo.

Nintendo released the Nintendo 3DS XL in July 2012. The screen is 90% bigger than the original Nintendo 3DS. One of the most heartbreaking moments of many Nintendo kids is when Nintendo shut down the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS on March 27, 2023 and the online service on April 8, 2024.
