tribe nine

Set in Neo Tokyo, a nation ruled by brutal death games, TRIBE NINE is an action RPG that tells the story of teens battling against madness and continuing their resistance.

tribe nine is a mobile/pc gacha rpg by the creators of danganronpa! i started playing it on release day, 2/20/25.

mini review [the day AFTER release]

if you love the visual art and storyline of danganronpa games, you'll love this game. the intro was so interesting and fun, mixing 2d and 3d elements in a perfect way. the character designs are exactly what you'd expect from these creators, as well as the environment. i think, for the most part, the majority of players can agree on that.

now, i did NOT play the beta so this next part is a mix of steam reviews and my own personal playthrough the last 24 hours. apparently in the beta, chests around the world contained currency for the gacha system, making the game a good f2p gacha for those who don't want to spend money. however, with the game release, players have realized that reward was removed from chests. the only way i've been able to make gacha currency has been from maintenance or #1 on play store achievement rewards. so yeah, that kinda sucks. especially because i'm not someone to likes to spend money on gacha games. i did hear they're working on fixing this already so lets see if they improve that.

but honestly, i'm still gonna play it because it does remind me so much of danganronpa and i'm enjoying the story. also its a pixel game in the exploration areas and 3d in battles, which is pretty cool imo! i'd say just about everything else is pretty mediocre, and the battle system does kinda give ZZZ. which, for me, isn't a huge deal, because i actually loved zenless until they started to overly sexualize characters that looked way too young.

thoughts, funny moments, screenshots, etc.

i thought this was funny af, because the game shows you where other players have died so when i entered this room and saw bodies everywhere i was scared to do the boss battle lmfao. (it actually wasn't that hard, but it was still funny) now i find it really funny to walk around the city and see dead bodies everywhere.

the "numbers" aka the enemies you'll have to gradually defeat. they all look really cool, i'm excited to see what their personalities are like! i think i'm most excited to meet both the pink hair characters, and the one with the blindfold!
